Tower equipment,refers to a vertical vessel with a relatively large ratio of height to diameter. It is an important piece of equipment for achieving sufficient contact between gas-liquid phases or liquid-liquid phases. Tower equipment is widely used in unit operations such as distillation, absorption, desorption, extraction, reaction, as well as gas scrubbing, cooling, humidification and drying in industries including chemical engineering, petrochemical engineering, pharmaceuticals, oil and natural gas, and light textiles. The basic structure of tower equipment consists of four parts: tower body, support, internals and accessories.
In addition to meeting specific process requirements, tower equipment should also satisfy the needs of industrial production. It should possess the following basic performances: high mass and heat transfer efficiency; large production capacity; stable operation with high flexibility; low fluid flow resistance; simple and reliable structure with low material consumption; corrosion resistance and low tendency to clogging. It is difficult for a single tower equipment to excel in all the above basic performances. A successful tower equipment design should meet the prominent requirements in production while maximizing the consideration of other requirements.
